The Project Brief

The Davies family had recently moved into a beautiful period property in Eaton, Norwich, but the garden was a blank canvas — an overgrown, sloping plot with no defined structure or usable outdoor space. They wanted a complete garden designed from scratch that would work for family life, entertaining, and provide a tranquil retreat. The brief included a porcelain patio for dining, boundary walls and fencing for privacy, and a stunning large pond with water features as the garden's centrepiece.

The sloping site presented several challenges. We needed to create level terraced areas for the patio and lawn, manage drainage effectively across the gradient, and design the pond and water feature system to integrate seamlessly with the natural garden contours. Every element was carefully planned from the ground up — starting with a full site survey, soil analysis and 3D design proposal.

What We Did

• Complete garden design from scratch — full 3D layout planning, levels and planting scheme
• Hard landscaping — terracing, retaining walls and levelling of the sloping site using Norfolk stone
• Porcelain patio installation — 900x600mm anti-slip tiles with linear drainage for a spacious dining area
• Boundary walls and bespoke closeboard fencing with concrete posts and gravel boards for privacy
• Large bespoke pond with liner, planting shelves and a recirculating water feature with cascading waterfall

The Result

The finished garden is a true sanctuary. The porcelain patio provides a clean, modern dining space that steps down to the lush lawn. The boundary walls and fencing create complete privacy, while the large pond — complete with aquatic planting and a gentle waterfall — brings a sense of calm and natural beauty to the entire garden. The Davies family now have an outdoor space that works perfectly for everything from quiet morning coffees by the pond to lively summer gatherings on the patio.
